Food Service Director-University Park, IL

Arena Food Service, Inc., an Illinois based, fast growing and progressive food service and catering management company is seeking an experienced Food Service Director for our facility located in University Park, Illinois.

This is a perfect opportunity for an experienced and innovative hands-on manager to join our fast growing management team and help to build our business with a long term partnership.  This position will be filled as soon as a qualified candidate is chosen.


Minimum Requirements For This Position:
  • Demonstrate ability to relate well with individuals representing a wide range of backgrounds, education and skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism and successful interactions with client relations and customer service.
  • Experience in progressive experiences pertaining to large quantity food production, multi-profit center production and management as well as proficiency in high quality catered events.
  • Proficient in use of technology to provide efficient business management and work flow.  Proficient in POS system management, Microsoft products and cloud based applications.
  • Demonstrated progressive work experience, organizational skills and problem solving techniques.
  • Degree in culinary arts or hospitality related field.  
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within food service operations in a higher education setting.


Responsibilities for this position include:
  • Direct and supervise a wide range of employees including a small management and supervisory team, full and part-time employees and student workers.
  • Direct and maintain proper sanitation and production standards.
  • Ensure quality of finished products in an consistent and meaningful manner.
  • Plan and implement daily culinary operations to include campus café and catering services.
  • Direct and oversee campus-wide vending operations as well as C-store benefiting students.
  • Oversee and maintain high-class catering events within a wide range of client needs and budget parameters.
  • Develop menus for café and retail operations within nutritional and financial parameters while integrating market trends, local needs and efficient production.
  • Recruit, select and train all staff.
  • Increase sales and convenience for guests, students and staff through effective marketing and communication.
  • Control revenue and expenses to meet financial goals.
